GEDA were appointed to undertake the design and planning submission for the conversion of a former tyre fitting shop and workshop with upper floor offices into seven residential dwellings. The design aims to maximise the site’s capability to provide much required residential dwellings in this desirable location. The proposal seeks to retain and convert the Victorian building with a new rear extension to replace a rear utilitarian and unsightly workshop. The extension steps back at each level to respect neighbouring amenity with a roof form that reflects the main Victorian building. The proposal consists of conversion of the existing Victorian building together with demolition of the workshops to the rear and replacement with new build within the existing constraints of the site. High levels of sustainable design, quality of materials and finishes will be provided.
